WOMEN IN TECH

VALERIA DOMINGUEZ

Women face unique challenges in developing their professional careers. They are especially underrepresented in digital and technology companies, two sectors that are increasingly relevant and important in our lives. Our goal is to promote greater female leadership at the senior management level, and on corporate boards. For one year, we will work with an exclusive group of digital female executives to provide them with training and position them for greater visibility and thus promote, through their increased opportunities, the following objectives:

1- Increase the visibility of female talent in the digital sector
2- Achieve greater female and digital representation on corporate boards
3- Promote new, technical careers for women and thus inspire the younger generations
4- Encourage more girls to study engineering
5- Promote female entrepreneurship in the digital sector, and connect this entrepreneurship with venture capital financing

The Tech Revolution - Glamour Magazine

“We meet up with the digital executives of #WomenInTechSpain, the first digital talent accelerator in our country, created by Valeria Dominguez. The objective: to overcome the technology gap.

It’s ten in the morning. We’re in the center of Madrid, in the studio where we have arranged for the photo shoot. There is an almost festive atmosphere, friendly and very collaborative. Soon, we will sit down around a table with the women for the interview. It will become a rich debate, and we will realize that these seven women have triumphed precisely because of their skills that have captivated us. They are #WomenInTechSpain, the first digital accelerator in our country, a superb idea by Valeria Dominguez, a mechanical engineer with an Executive MBA from Harvard University, and the founder and CEO of Felino, an eCommerce strategy consultancy.”

Valeria Domínguez: "We need more women in positions of responsibility"

“Not so long ago, Spanish women needed their father’s or husband’s permission to obtain a passport, to sell real estate or even to open a checking account. In 1981, several laws were passed that moved women closer toward real social equality. In the subsequent years of liberation, a new generation of women were born that are changing our country, business and culture.” Read the story in Vogue.

Valeria Domínguez: “Women's jump to high-level positions is full of obstacles”

“Valeria Domínguez has a plan: it’s called #WomenInTechSpain, a digital talent accelerator made up of eight professionals who will work for a year to promote the visibility of women in the technological area. In addition to inspiring and learning together, the goal is clear: to be leaders in a sector that will shape the future of humanity and in which women are not yet equally represented.”

The goal of Women in Tech Spain is to help this group of women advance in their careers and achieve positions of leadership and responsibility on corporate boards. We firmly believe that visibility creates opportunity, and we want to give visibility to female voices in the digital and technology sector. Women need to start becoming a greater part of the conversation.

In addition, we want to encourage young women to study science and engineering, in order to fully participate in the current tech revolution. We want to be new role models for young women who are deciding what to study, what to dream, and what it means to be a woman.
